More about 59 First Street...

We felt good about this house from first word about it. And we were pleasantly surprised on how attractive it was and that it was in such amazing condition! It is an old farm house that was basically gutted and recreated on the inside. Even the basement was basically redone. It is small--technically only a 1.5 story house--because the second story has an "attic" feel. But it is very cozy. It is also set on Athens West side, which is mostly student rental houses. But it is nestled in a wooded and quiet little lot.

There is a cute little wrap around porch. It is very skinny but opens up as you walk around the house to the door off the left hand side.

The house is on an EXTREME hill. I was VERY surprised that my old station wagon got up it! We asked how it was in the winter and we were basically told to walk to work!!
Well, at least winters are mild in Athens and the house is only .4 miles from Matt's job...little more to mine (we would actually be closer to town then we are in our current rental)!!

This is the living room, which has glass double doors that open on to the back of the porch and look out down the hill.
The house has hardwood floors on both floors.
Can anyone tell me from looking if they are the orginal hardwood?
And a brick chimney runs up through the complete center, you can see it here between the living room and kitchen.

The kitchen is very functional. WITH A GAS STOVE--which has been very rare! And pink tile countertops!

Well, lets just say that I am VERY excited!!
And I am sure to write more very soon!
